Greetings to eco-experiential learning parents and students. Let me introduce myself and share my purpose with you.

Educational Background
I have been an educator for 14 years teaching all levels of students, K-12 and college level, while living in Nebraska and Florida. Currently, I am spending June, Julyand August in Summit County, where I continue my dream of creating a "eco-learning place" that connects natureand language arts, often called environmental literacy.

Philosophy of Mountain Learning Place
The spirit of teaching and learning comes from a heart that embraces curiosity and creativity with both teacher and learner.  With that in mind, I would like the Mountain Learning Place to develop each student's individual love for learning through an eco-environment content with hands-on experiences exploring nature's unique earth.

The Rocky Mountains provide wonderful opportunities to develop a keen awareness and an appreciation for our natural resources and connecting academic skills at the same time. Teachers and learners become one in nature's deliverance.

Professional Credentials
I have completed a M. A in Elementary Education an Adult Learning and Development.  My Ph.d emphasis is education, curriculum and instruction, multicultural education, and English as a Second Language. (ESL)

The past 14 years my teaching experiences have been with the University of Nebraska College of Education and the Pinellas County School District in Florida, where I have been the Director of the English as a Second Language Program (ESL) at Clearwater High School for 8 years. My expertise has become literature and composition within a language arts and science context.

While teaching English an Adjunct Instructor at St. Petersburg College, University of South Florida, and the University of Tampa, I have experienced many cultures and languages with international and residential students. I encourage ESL high school and adult  learners to inquire about individual tutoring schedules.

I currently hold  Florida Professional Teaching credentials for K-12, ESL, and a Reading Training Endorsement.  The last three years I have been a profesional development trainer for the Florida Reading Endorsement Program.

With all that being officially explained, I am very excited about the summer sessions at Mountain Learning Place.  We will focus on nature concepts, projects, hikes, and activities that support the K-12 science curriculum of Colorado. I recently joined the environmental literacy association, CAEE, to continue my own eco-learning experience.

Lindsey Miller, a graduate of the University of Denver, will assist with several of the summer programs.  Lindsey serves on the board of Girls, Inc., Metro Denver, and is currently beginning to write children's adventure literature.  Monica Grefe is a colleague of mine in Florida. She is certified in science, ESL and ESE. With high energy and creative science background, she brings unigue spanish/bi-lingual talent to our group. Monica will join us during the mid-July and August sessions.

Most of all. eco-learning will be focused learning,  fun and very busy for all of us.  I look forward to sharing a unique. aethestic, and awesome summer learning experience with each person.

Go to Session Page for all the details. See you at the Mountain Learning Place in Breckenridege!!

Eco-Mentor/Director
